Born in 1959, Air Vice Marshal Ijaz Mahmood Malik, HI (M), SI (M), received his early education at Govt Central Model School and Govt College Lahore. Subsequently, he joined Pakistan Air Force and got commissioned in Air Defence branch in November, 1981. During his career spanning 33 years; he has worked in all main streams of Air Defence Systems of Pakistan Air Force. He is an M.Sc qualified in Strategic Studies from Air War College, PAF and graduate of National Security & War Course from National Defence University. He has rich experience of both administrative and operational commands in his career. He is a recipient of 03 CAS Commendation Certificates and Professional Excellency Badge. In recognition of his meritorious and dedicated service, he has been decorated with Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) by the Government of Pakistan. He served as Air Officer Commanding, HQs Air Defence Command from Jul, 2012 to Nov, 2014. He served as Director General Civil Defence from Jan 12, 2015-January 11th, 2017.
In his last assignment, besides looking after civil defence activities at national level; he has also represented Pakistan at international forums and seminars. He has also participated in Anti- terrorist course at INTERPOL HQs France and ATA Washington DC . In recognition of his services for the cause of Civil Defence, he has been awarded Dukeship Medal by ICDO Geneva. Air Officer is currently pursuing his MSc in Disaster Risk Management, besides his keen interest in conservation and Civil Protection.
