Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt retired as Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force in 2015. He received his early education at Govt Central Model School (Lower Mall) Lahore and PAF Public School Sargodha. He served Pakistan Air Force for 38 years. During his service he held various key appointments within and outside PAF which include appointments such as Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Personnel), Vice Chief of The Air Staff (VCAS), Commandant – National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad and DG – NAB (NWFP) KPK. He did his Masters in Strategic & Defense studies from National Defense University.

He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautics Society(FRAeS). The former CAS handled the affairs of the Pakistan Ski Federation as President in 2010-2012 and as patron between 2012-2015. With the basic objective of creating opportunities and open new avenues for the local populace, he managed to procure a used European Chair Lift that was installed  at Naltar during his tenure. In order to support the accompanying growth potential of the area, the already continuing voluntary education programme(under at auspices of PLP trust)  is being further consolidated with primary focus on the girls’ education and skill development through Falcons’ Remote Area Development (FRAD) Trust. He is the founding Chairman of the Trust.
