Naltar Bala or Naltar, as it is commonly known, is a small village situated 48 km from Gilgit city. It boasts a population of about 5000, majority of which lives below the poverty line. The economy is agriculture based, and with only one crop a year it has no chance to bring prosperity to the people. The village shot to fame in 2010 when a local boy became the first Winter Olympian for Pakistan. The village is as scenic as a place could be, and attracts a sizeable number of tourists, increasing each year. However, because of the rampant illiteracy the village fails to cash upon its immense potential. While there is a Middle School in the village, the quality of education due to non-availability/absenting of teachers is exceedingly poor. Bringing quality education to the youth of this area will preclude the chances of these little angels falling prey to subversive elements that are on the lookout for kids from underprivileged background. Beside development, eradication and preemption of radicalization is, therefore, a major by- product of our efforts in the area.
Falcon Remote Areas Development Trust was established on 4th October 2016 under the chairmanship of ACM Tahir Rafiq Butt(R) with broader objectives to address domains like bringing quality education to the area as well as construction of infrastructure and missing facilities in the existing schools.
The construction of Falcons High School building as well as an administrative block with office and some residential accommodation has already started and likely to get completed in December 2019. An infrastructural Development Project to provide missing facilities in remote areas of District Attock, Tehsil Jand has also been completed in October 2018. Five Primary/Elementary schools were provided classrooms, toilets, boundary walls and electricity etc on requirement basis, in coordination with the District Administration Attock.
